National Coordination Centre Meets to Discuss Introduction of the Integrated Border Management (IBM) System in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, 19 August 2011 – The meeting of the National Coordination Centre on development and introduction of the Integrated Border Management (IBM) system was organized by the EU-UNDP Border Management in Central Asia (BOMCA) Programme during 15-19 August 2011 in Kyrgyzstan.

 

Participants of the meeting, who represented Border Troops under the State Committee on National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Ministry of Economic Regulation, Ministry of Interior, State Customs Committee, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Agriculture, as well as Ministry of Labour and Migration analyzed selected projects related to introduction and implementation of IBM.

The National Coordination Centre is responsible for drafting the strategy of effective implementation of state policies in border management and coordination of all key agencies, state committees, local government bodies and civil society in the framework of IBM introduction. The EU-UNDP BOMCA Programme provides technical back-up of the Centre's activities.

In the framework of the EU-UNDP BOMCA assistance programme, the European Union helps increase security in the Central Asian region, reduce the illicit movement of goods and people, and contributes toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit.

The EU-UNDP BOMCA assistance programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as a partner.
