Delegates from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan participated in the International Border Police Conference

Budapest (Hungary) – XIX International Border Police Conference (IBPC) was organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary and the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the EU External Borders (FRONTEX) from 8 to 10 June 2011.

 

Delegates from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan participated in the Conference where senior representatives from the European Union (EU) Member States and partner agencies discussed operational cooperation between Member States in the field of border security.

The issues discussed at the Conference included such topics as Combating illegal migration, Cooperation among the border services and other relevant bodies in fight against drug smuggling, Coast Guards and other.

In the framework of the EU-UNDP BOMCA assistance programme, the European Union helps foster institutional reform in border management, strengthens training capacities in Central Asia, assists in securing the Tajik-Afghan border and enhances infrastructure capacities along trade and transit corridors in Central Asia.

The EU-UNDP BOMCA assistance programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as a partner.
