Central Asia map

The Border Management Programme in Central Asia is one of the largest EU-UNDP assistance programmes in Central Asia region. The main component of BOMCA is capacity development for Integrated Border Management (IBM) through training and exposure to European best practices for all agencies involved in border management. Additional components of the programme include provision of infrastructure and equipment to leverage what is accomplished through specialized training and to facilitate more professional and efficient security, law enforcement and trade operations at selected border crossing points (BCPs) on trade corridors, and enhanced security and improvement of working conditions at selected border outposts (BOs) on the Tajik-Afghan border.

Border Guard Officers from Central Asia Trained in Identification of Falsified Documents

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan (26 April 2012) – Twenty-eight border officers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in a three-day "Document security and identification of falsified documents" Regional workshop organised by the EU-UNDP Border Management in Central Asia (BOMCA) Programme together with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). The training was inaugurated by Theo Hensels, Europa House Coordinator in Turkmenistan and Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative a.i.

Ministers met in Vienna at Central Asia Border Security Initiative

VIENNA (AUSTRIA), 17 April 2012 – The European Union, OSCE, the Austrian Interior Ministry,  UNDP and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held a ministerial-level meeting of the Central Asia Border Security Initiative (CABSI) on 16 and 17 April.
